What's your approach to trauma and PTSD?

Each person is unique including the way trauma has affected them. My approach is to learn about you, your experiences, and how trauma is affecting your life. Together we will find the right blend of approaches that work for you and what you want to be different. For those wanting the technical side of it, my approach incorporates Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, as well as other modalities like Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and some others. The goal is to find the right mix for you.

What's the difference between understanding a pattern and moving through it?

Many of my clients have had multiple therapists in the past. It’s been helpful, but not enough. They understand why they react the way they do and they are still caught in it. That gap is not failure — it means something deeper needs attention. Moving through a problem acknowledges what’s happening and we find a path through, reducing or even eliminating its impact on your life.

How do we start?

Every client starts with a consultation. It is a conversation about what brought you in, what you are hoping to shift, and whether I am the right fit — I take on clients selectively, and the consultation is how we both find out. There is no pressure to arrive with the right words or a finished explanation.

Do you work with clients outside Florida?

The practice is fully telehealth. I am licensed in Florida, Kentucky, Oregon, and Washington, and I work with clients anywhere in those four states.

I'm not sure what I'm carrying is 'bad enough' for therapy.

The measure that counts here is how it affected you, not how it compares to anyone else's experience or some external standard. If you’re questioning if something was “bad enough” that means it’s affecting you in some way. That’s enough to get help. Let's talk and see what makes sense for you. What else do you work with?

Like many therapists, my work includes other diagnoses than trauma. However, my goal is to be less focused on naming the diagnosis and more on how your life is affected. Beyond trauma and PTSD: LGBTQIA+ issues, gender-affirming care, depression, anxiety, grief, coping skills, sexual abuse recovery, dual diagnosis, and life transitions. The best way to find out if this would be a good fit is to schedule a consultation. It’s free with no pressure.

Do you offer clinical supervision?

Clinical supervision for prelicensed clinicians seeking licensure is available in Oregon and Florida. However, for fully licensed clinicians supervision is available in Oregon, Florida, Kentucky, and Washington. How does payment work?

Accepted Answer

The cost of therapy is important and we want to be transparent. We get frustrated at sites that hide things or make it difficult to know the actual cost. We do not believe in high-pressure sales tactics. We are currently in-network with limited insurers. Please contact us to find out if we are in-network with your insurance. We are in renegotiation with all of them and the list is changing.
